Habitat for Humanity Huron County Homeownership Program
The Homeownership Program is an opportunity for families in need of decent and affordable housing to purchase a new house in Huron County. A down-payment is not normally required, the mortgage principal is interest-free and payments to cover house insurance plus property taxes plus mortgage are calculated at 30% of income. Families must be willing to support Habitat Huron County with 500 Partnership Volunteer Hours.
Becoming a Habitat homeowner is hard work, but it's worth it. According to a survey of Habitat homeowners, Habitat for Humanity families are more physically active, more involved in their community and their kids are more likely to pursue post-secondary education. Habitat homeowners are also more financially secure, building their own strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership.
